Why SLAC/Stanford for a QIS research?
QIS is already transforming the landscape of today’s R&D environment, bringing together researchers from diverse disciplines to collaborate on solving these challenging scientific and technical problems. Recognizing that new relationships and teams are needed to solve these challenges, earlier this year Stanford University and SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory launched a new QIS initiative. Our partnership in Q-Farm, the Quantum Fundamentals, ARchitecture and Machines initiative, builds upon existing strengths in theoretical and experimental quantum science and engineering at Stanford and SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. There are over 50 world-leading faculty and researchers with access to academic, National Laboratory and industrial collaborators worldwide, providing the necessary critical mass to address multi-faceted problems. This partnership promotes coordination between existing deep expertise in multiple subfields of QIS, while addressing education and workforce development to cultivate a strong QIS community.
